7. Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes
Sunday morning isn’t complete without a stack of these, dripping with maple syrup.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 cups Buttermilk
- 2 Eggs
- 4 tbsp Melted butter
Instructions:
- Whisk dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another.
- Combine the two, stirring until just moistened (lumps are okay!).
- Heat a greased griddle over medium heat.
- Pour 1/4 cup of batter per pancake. Flip when bubbles form on the surface and the edges look dry.
- Cook until golden on the second side.
8. New England Clam Chowder
A creamy, hearty soup that tastes like the Atlantic coast.
Ingredients:
- 2 cans (6.5 oz) Chopped clams (reserve liquid)
- 3 slices Bacon, diced
- 1 Onion, diced
- 2 cups Potatoes, cubed
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 2 cups Bottled clam juice or water
- Salt, pepper, and thyme
Instructions:
- Fry bacon in a pot until crisp. Remove and leave the fat.
- Sauté onion in bacon fat. Add potatoes and clam liquid/juice.
- Simmer until potatoes are tender (about 15 minutes).
- Stir in clams and heavy cream. Heat through but do not boil.
- Season with thyme, salt, and pepper. Serve with oyster crackers.
9. Slow-Cooked Pot Roast

- 3 lb Beef Chuck Roast
- 4 Carrots, cut into chunks
- 4 Potatoes, quartered
- 1 Onion, sliced
- 2 cups Beef broth
